Craft Film Nights are Here

Winter nights are perfect for meeting up with friends and watching movies. That’s what we’ll be doing at Craft Film Nights! Read on for the details:

Craft Film Night Details

What: Hang out with other craft nerds and watch films about traditional craft and traditional people. Doors open at 6:30pm for social time before the screening, BYO beverage and we’ll provide the popcorn. Please let us know you are coming by sending us an email!

Location: Woodspirit School Classroom in Ashland, WI

When: Once a month December 2022-April 2023 on Saturdays. Doors open at 6:30pm for social time, screenings start at 7:30pm.

Screening Schedule

December 3, 2022—The Spoon, the Bowl and the Knife
Watch a film about the father of Swedish wooden spoon carving, Wille Sundquist. 71 mins.

January 7, 2023—The Cree Hunters of Mistassini 
An NFB crew filmed a group of three families. Since times predating agriculture, this First Nations people have gone to the bush of the James Bay and Ungava Bay area to hunt. We see the building of the winter camp, the hunting and the rhythms of Cree family life.

February 11, 2023—Happy People 
This film series by Director Dmitry Vasyukov is a documentary about people from faraway corners of Russia, who live in harmony with their beautiful, but harsh natural surroundings.

March 4, 2023—Curated Craft
Compilation of short craft films collected by Jarrod on clog making, wood turning, basket weaving and other traditional crafts.

April 1, 2023—Spoon Carving Films & Special Guest Barn the Spoon
We will watch videos of Swedish spoon carver Jalmar and a ladle carver in Japan, plus meet special guest and world famous spoon carver Barn the Spoon visiting from the UK.
