Our Classroom is on the second floor and includes sturdy work tables and chairs, a kitchenette for tea & coffee, lots of natural light, and a bathroom.

Parking is in the front lot or on the street. Enter through the rear door.
The Textile & Dye Garden is surrounded by a woven willow fence and is open for visiting during the summer. Flax, basket willow, and indigo are also grown in beds on the property.
Health & Safety
Class participation is at your own risk. Class sizes are limited and lessons take place inside and outside. By registering for an event or course you are acknowledging responsibility for your own health and safety and agree to hold hosts, instructors, and participants harmless.
Cancellation/Refunds
Cancellation is very difficult due to small class sizes and the challenges of replacing your spot. Let us know as soon as possible if you are cancelling. All cancellations are subject to a 15% cancellation fee. Some courses have a Special Cancellation Policy listed in their description.
Standard Cancellation Policy
85% refund for cancellations more than 6 weeks before the start of class. No refunds for cancellations of less than 6 weeks unless your place in class is filled by someone on a waitlist.
Special Cancellation Policy
No refunds for cancellations unless your spot is filled from the waitlist.
Woodspirit School Cancellation
If the workshop is cancelled by Woodspirit School a full refund will be given. If a class doesn't meet minimum enrollment 6 weeks before start, we may cancel. Make sure your lodging and transport reservations will refund you if this happens.
Grants/Work Study/Scholarship Fund/Reduced Tuition
Our local arts council CBAC offers grants to Bayfield and Ashland County residents.
Spots in select classes are available for work study trade to local folks. Contact us to find out more.
We are also working on a fund to provide financial assistance to low income people interested in traditional craft and to locals. We are looking for donors to this project, email us!
Return students will get an early bird discount coupon for 2026 classes! Check your email and register by April 1, 2026. One use per returning student.

Where is the classroom?
Classes are held at Woodspirit School, 2nd Floor, 1400 3rd Street West, Ashland, WI 54806 unless otherwise noted. Addresses for off site courses and events are sent in a confirmation email.

What is the closest airport?
Ashland, WI (pop. ~8,000) is an hour and a half drive from DLH in Duluth, MN—the closest international airport—with connections from Chicago and Minneapolis. There is a smaller airport with limited flights in Ironwood, MI. Some people also drive here from the airport in Minneapolis, MN ~4 hours away.
Where should I eat?
Our small town has a cafe, bakery, grocery stores, a few restaurants, and a Walmart, with more choices in Washburn and Bayfield. Here are a few places we like to go:
