Do a whole weekend of FLAX by adding on the Flax to Linen Class on Sunday, September 1.
Fresh Leaf Indigo and Woad Dyeing, Flax Linen Processing & Harvesting, Cotton and Other Fibers Handspinning, Band Heddle Weaving, and more
FLAX/LINEN Join us in experiencing all the stages of making linen from seed to cloth. We’ll be harvesting flax plants in the garden, hanging them to dry, separating seeds from dried stalks, breaking and combing retted home grown flax into stricks for spinning, and spinning the fiber into thread.
LEAF DYEING Harvest fresh plants from the garden and dye cloth with them.
HANDSPINNING Try a spindle to turn fiber into thread.
BAND WEAVING Try your hand at weaving a narrow cloth band with a wooden heddle-a great first experience of weaving.
Bring clothes that can get dirty, a dust mask, water and a bag lunch.
